What is PPStream?
PPStream is a network for live media streaming, It's a great P2P program, Installation in easy English , menu in Chinese but manny Chinese (Sports)channels . Like QSIV, a great channel, most of the time with English commentary and all kind of matches on. So enjoy PPStream! It can broadcast programs stably and smoothly for broadband users. Compared to traditional stream media, PPStream adopts P2P -streaming technology and supports full-scale visit with tens of thousands of users online. You can call it a P2P Streaming Internet TV. Currently the majority of PPStream TV channels are from China, Hong-Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.

The following is a translation of the official pplive FAQ:
Question 1. Version 9.5 works fine but 9.6 and later versions don't. Download, buffer and connections all read zeros.
Answer 1. If you are using XP and Win 2003, uninstall and reinstall pplive, then restart PC.
Question 2. Buffer is taking too long or never reaches 100%.
Answer 2. The buffer mechanism has been optimised to improve quality which has led to a slower buffering. The program will only start to appear when the buffer reaches 80%.
Question 3. After using PPlive, I can't use the internet at all, e.g. browsing the web.
Answer 3. Under Options > Network > Peer, change the Max Peer Count to 10.
Question 4. It keeps saying "Downloading Channels List" and then program hangs.
Answer 4. Use the online channel list instead.
Question 5. I can't open pplive using PPplayer.
Answer 5. Download the latest version and under PPlive's engine Option>Play>Player Option, change both player path to point to where ppplayer.exe is. e.g. c:\program files\pplive tv\ppplayer.exe. If you are part of a LAN, then check the UPNP under Option > Network > Peer and restart pplive.
Question 6. Buffer is 100% but it's still laggy as hell.
Answer 6. This is caused by the viewer. First close the viewer, then make sure the viewer has full access to the internet, i.e. let it pass through the firewall or any parental control software you are using.
Question 7. After buffering for 5 minutes on cctv5, the picture quality is ok but the sound goes up and down all the time.
Answer 7. This is totally dependant on the quality of the source.
Question 8. After installing, I am unable to open pplive. There is only a ppplayer window, there is nothing on the task list and I can't close the program.
Answer 8. After installation, ppplayer is opened by default, click on a channel on the channel listings to watch a program.
Question 9. I don't have RealPlayer, I use Media Player Classic to watch programs. The majority of the programs are without sound. I installed 1.0.9.4 today and got an unknown error.
Answer 9. Please use RealPlayer or WindowsMediaPlayer.
Question 10. Whenever I use pplive to watch programs, Windows firewall automatically starts. Answer 10. This is by design in this version.
Question 11. Today I upgraded to the latest version, RealPlayer keeps giving errors. The buffer is at 100% but RM can't open the stream.

The smoothness of the stream is directly related to the uploads of all users. You can only download as fast as the combined uploads can provide. Therefore, in order to get a smoother picture, everyone should make sure that they do their bit to upload. If you are running a firewall, e.g. zonelarm or kerio or windows firewall, you must tell it to allow incoming connections. As from version 1.0.9.7, the ports are TCP 5547 and UDP 7135. These ports are found under Option > Network > Port.

What is PPLive?
PPLive is Shareware software for online streaming TV programs. It's a peer-to-peer streaming video network created by the People's Republic of China. The software integrated the most advanced peer-to-peer technology so it can provide the users with smooth TV programs with no interceptions. How PPLive Works?
Basic OperationAfter a user selects a TV station from the list, which is accessed by right-clicking the PPLive icon in the Microsoft Windows system tray, the program will then connect to peers and buffer the stream. PPLive typically uses ports 8008 TCP and 4004 UDP to connect to peers. When the buffer is reasonably full, PPLive launches your media player, either RealPlayer or Windows Media Player, pointing it to read a stream from a local port (usually 8080), Closing down your Media player will not end the stream. The PPLive program will remain in the background streaming data until you close it from the tray or change the channel. CompatibilityThe PPLive program is installable on Asian and English language versions of Windows XP. By default, it uses Windows Media Player and RealPlayer. The media player that is opened depends on the type of stream.
